As well as equipment and personal belongings, a quantity of bottles and jars also survived the ordeal, and a representative group are on view in the ‘U-Boat Story’ exhibition. It was unnecessary to display every item in duplication, and as storage space was limited it was decided that the remainder could be released into the public domain. We have been fortunate in securing the surplus and are able to offer you a great opportunity to own a piece of unique U-Boat history, sold in condition as recovered, with staining and silt residue.

1. Beer bottle

All one shape with a cross symbol moulded on base. Shade of green glass varies to some degree.

2a. Riesling wine bottle

Tall, slim elegant style with gently sloping shoulders known as the Alsace (or Germanic) bottle, synonymous with Riesling. All have lettering moulded on base: DIN over 0.7L over Db.

Similar to above but 1.5cm taller. All have lettering moulded on base which varies slightly, but most common is: 0.7L over Da. Shade of green glass varies to some degree.

3. Sauce / condiment bottle

Bakelite screw-on top and moulded lettering on base. Most contain a circular plug with small central hole.
